Personal Statements for Graduate School and Healthcare Programs (Arch Ready Fall 2026)
10-13-2026 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm (America/New_York) (1 hour)

Preparing a personal statement for a graduate program or a health professions program such as medicine, physician assistant studies, or other pre health fields? This workshop will help participants craft a compelling, authentic, and well structured personal statement that effectively communicates their motivations, strengths, and readiness for advanced study. Whether attendees are applying to a master’s, PhD, or professional health program, they will learn how to identify the most meaningful content, avoid common pitfalls, and develop a narrative that reflects your academic purpose, personal growth, and future goals. Learning Objectives: Recognize the role and expectations of personal statements across graduate and professional school applications, including how Centralized Application Systems (e.g., CAS platforms) and institution specific applications incorporate written materials. Create an initial outline for a personal statement using four key components — Motivation, Fit, Capacity, and Vision — to guide the development of a cohesive and compelling narrative. Identify at least three UGA resources that can support your drafting and revision process. To receive credit for this program, students must log in through Handshake and complete the survey at the end of this session. Access to this event will be made available 5 minutes before the scheduled start time.
