How do historians enjoy movies made in or about the past? Learn how film shapes how we remember historical events and how the historian's craft can leap off the page and onto the silver screen! Join us for a short lecture, discussion, and screening of history on film. This month, the History Film Series is screening The Exorcist (1973, dir. William Friedkin). When a twelve-year-old girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her. 122 min. Rated R. Supernatural horror. Starring Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Linda Blair. Free and open to the university community. Refreshments will be available. Introduction and Q&A with Professor Emily Smith, Lecturer in History.
