The Ray Conniff Jazz Ensemble Series Watch the livestream Rich Thompson, director* Featuring Bobby Floyd, jazz piano *Final Performace with Rich Thompson as Director The Eastman Jazz Lab Band is a full 17-piece jazz ensemble, consisting of both undergraduate and grad. students. The ensemble performs a full range of big band repertoire including Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Woody Herman, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Bill Holman, and more. The band also performs arrangements by known Eastman Jazz alumni and current Eastman Jazz student arrangers. The Ensemble is directed by Associate Professor Rich Thompson and assisted by a graduate JCM student. Over the last 12 years, the Band, led by Thompson, has consistently brought in talented and varied guest artists and soloists to work with the students. The Ray and Vera Conniff Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the renowned Grammy-winning trombonist and arranger Ray Conniff.
