The LSU Jazz Ensemble\, under the direction of Doug Stone\, and the LSU Jazz Lab Band\, under the direction of John Madere\, join forces for a high-energy big band concert featuring jazz repertoire from the classic to the modern. This spring performance showcases legendary New Orleans trumpeter James Andrews as guest artist. Raised in the Tremé\, Andrews hails from one of New Orleans’ great musical families and was mentored by NEA Jazz Master Danny Barker. As leader of the Crescent City All-Stars\, he has brought New Orleans jazz and R&B to major stages around the world and famously vowed after Hurricane Katrina\, “We’re going to rebuild this city\, note by note.” You won~t want to miss this amazing performance!
