High Voltage returns this year with bold new energy and a spotlight on the Polyphonic Fender Rhodes, a one-of-a-kind instrument developed at LSU. Featured in three newly commissioned collaborations with Louisiana-based composers and improvisers Jonathan Freilich, Brian Haas, and Simon Moushabeck, this groundbreaking keyboard takes center stage in a program full of invention, artistry, and surprise. The evening also includes works by EMDM faculty and more to be revealed. Sponsored in part by a Community Partnership Grant from the Jazz and Heritage Foundation.

Experience an unforgettable evening of jazz as the LSU Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Doug Stone, and the LSU Jazz Lab Band, led by John Madere, take the stage for a spirited fall performance celebrating America’s original art form.

LSU welcomes the Kuuskmann-Friar Duo to the Recital Hall for a dynamic program of new music for amplified bassoon and piano. Featuring GRAMMY-nominated bassoonist Martin Kuuskmann and Rome Prize-winning composer-pianist Sean Friar, the duo blends elements of classical, rock, jazz, electronic, and ambient music to create a fresh and expressive chamber music experience.

The LSU Chamber Jazz Ensembles will present a concert featuring classic small group jazz repertoire from a variety of eras. In the chamber jazz ensemble format, student musicians have the opportunity to focus on improvisation, exploring the harmonic and rhythmic nuances of the pieces, and highlighting their unique and personal melodic musical voices. Please join us for an intimate and inspiring musical evening.
