"Dark Winds" (2001) by John Luther Adams performed by UAF Music Department students and faculty as part of the Circumpolar Music Series 2025 Winter Chamber Concert directed by Dr. Sean Dowgray The Circumpolar Music Series (CMS) is a new initiative led by the UAF Department of Music beginning in 2022. CMS annually showcases artists, scholars, and musicians who identify with the circumpolar region of the world. Through performances, lectures, and hands-on activities, distinct features of northern art and music will be shared and explored. The UAF Department of Music is grateful to its generous benefactor, Catherine Madsen for her support of the Circumpolar Music Series. We acknowledge the Alaska Native nations upon whose ancestral lands our campuses reside. In Fairbanks, our Troth Yeddha’ Campus is located on the ancestral lands of the Dena people of the lower Tanana River.
