A Weekend of Choral and Orchestral Masterworks Join the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra, the UD Chorale, and Schola Cantorum for two unforgettable evenings of profound beauty and spiritual depth. Under the direction of conductor Paul Head, these performances bring together nearly 200 musicians to explore two of the most significant works in the choral-orchestral repertoire. The Program The evening opens with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Mass in C minor, K. 427. Often referred to as the "Great" Mass, it remains one of Mozart’s most ambitious and beloved works—a stunning fusion of Baroque majesty and operatic grace. Following intermission, we transition to the contemporary brilliance of Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living. Unlike a traditional requiem for the deceased, Forrest’s five-movement work is a lush, cinematic prayer for peace and rest for those of us still living. The University of Delaware Concert Choir is a chorus open to all university students dedicated to the performance of unaccompanied and accompanied choral music from a variety of genres, typically directed by Dr. Aimee Pearsall-Kramer. Resound is the University of Delaware’s choral ensemble devoted to the performance of music from the Black Diaspora. While gospel music and its unique performance practice are central to the ensemble’s identity, Resound also performs a diverse array of sacred and secular works composed by Black composers, celebrating the depth and breadth of this rich musical heritage. *Processing fees apply to online orders. Celebrating Arvo Pärt’s 90th Birthday Across the Arts “Of Sound and Silence…” is a truly interdisciplinary program that includes music, visual art, poetry, projections, theoretical analysis of Summa, and a demonstration of the Tintinnabuli style. It brings together both faculty and students from across the School of the Arts. Arvo Pärt is an Estonian composer, born in 1935, widely regarded as one of the most influential living composers of contemporary classical music. After early experimentation with modernist styles, he developed his distinctive tintinnabuli technique in the 1970s—a minimalist approach inspired by the sound of ringing bells and rooted in spiritual simplicity. His music is often associated with sacred themes and deep introspection, reflecting his engagement with religious texts and Orthodox Christianity. Some of his most well-known works include Spiegel im Spiegel, Fratres, and Tabula Rasa. Pärt’s compositions are celebrated for their clarity, emotional depth, and timeless quality, earning him international acclaim and a lasting impact on both classical and contemporary music.

The University of Delaware Graduate Percussion Spring Concert will feature a wide range of musical tastes. We will perform two premiered works, one of which being a brand new 2026 commission. The program will also contain both the old and new percussion standards in our repertoire. We are so excited to share an evening of captivating music with our community! The award winning Graduate Percussion Group is a fully funded fellowship program. Each member is awarded a fellowship for their studies at UD by co-directing and performing in this ensemble. Coached and mentored by the faculty ensemble in residence (Quey Percussion Duo), the Graduate Percussion Group is actively engaged in artistic creativity on a daily basis through rehearsing, performing, and administration of a self-sustaining ensemble that straddles the line between collegiate and professional performing experiences. The Graduate Percussion Group presents regular programs throughout the year in addition to numerous projects related to audio recording, video production, outreach, recruiting, competitions, and composer-performer experiences. Graduate Percussion Group members also often perform side-by-side with guest and faculty artists. In addition to performances, as a self-sustaining ensemble, each student will assume administrative roles to guarantee the success of the ensemble such as scheduling, programming, recruiting, outreach, marketing and promotion, and social media management to name a few.

The UD Percussion Ensemble presents a “duos” concert each spring semester called "In Tandem." Modeled after the faculty ensemble in residence (Quey Percussion Duo), percussion ensemble members pair up to choose their own repertoire, rehearse, receive coaching sessions from the faculty ensemble, and perform their work in this collage concert of varied and exciting music for two.

Capturing the energy and excitement of big band jazz, Jazz Ensemble I and Jazz Ensemble II are standard instrumentation big bands with saxophone, trombone, trumpet and rhythm sections as well as solo vocalists. The Collegium Musicum provides instrumentalists and vocalists the opportunity to study and perform music from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The Collegium comprises a number of chamber ensembles formed around the interests and abilities of its members, providing the opportunity to learn new instruments and performance styles and to perform in formal and informal settings.
