The Univeristy Theatre, a production wing under the Department of Theatre & Dance, is holding open call auditions for its first two productions of the 2026-27 season: Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown and The Emperor of the Moon: A Farce by Aphra Behn, edited by Gillian Genardo. Auditions are on April 27 from 5-8pm in Murphy Hall Studio 354. Students should prepare a one-minute monologue (classical/heightened language ideal if auditioning for Emperor). When auditioning for Songs, students should prepare 32-bar song (30 to 45 seconds) of a contemporary musical theatre song. Students, please bring your sheet music in your key. (An accompanist will be provided.) Students are strongly encouraged to read the script before auditions. Scripts are available in Murphy Hall Room 317. Audition sign-ups are being organized through acceptd. These productions are open to all majors and Haskell students. If you have any questions or are unable to make it to open call, please contact Jim Dick at jldick @ku.edu to discuss possible alternative arrangements.
