John Pablo Rojas, composer based on Steven Roden's "human scale (my body floating over the silent world, where bells sound link rainbows)". Performed in partnership with the University of Maryland School of Music as part of the 72 Hour Composition Challenge at NextNOW Fest, in the Gildenhorn Recital Hall at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, September 11, 2026. The 72-Hour Composition Challenge featured new works by students in the UMD School of Music. Composers had 36 hours to write a piece and another 36 hours to rehearse the music with the performers before it was premiered in concert. In partnership with the UMD Art Gallery, composers selected one artwork on display from the UMD Art Gallery’s permanent collection as inspiration for their work. NextNOW Fest is a program of Clarice Presents, a signature event of Arts for All and in partnership with Terps After Dark at the University of Maryland.
