The Michigan Youth Philharmonia Orchestra (MYPO) is a string-only orchestra, open to students between grades 6 (six) through 8 (eight) for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) is an ensemble of exceptional high school student instrumentalists, who are selected by audition, with weekly rehearsals at SMTD. MYPO and MYSO are part of the Michigan Youth Ensembles program, where young performers have the opportunity to engage in a stimulating environment, while learning from U-M conductors, applied faculty, and graduate students.
