Rossellini’s follow up to Rome Open City (1945) and one of the iconic neorealist films made in Italy in the immediate aftermath of World War II. The film’s six episodes follow the liberation of Italy from the Nazi-Fascists, highlighting the interactions between Italian civilians, Italian Partisans, and the Allied Forces.
