GODSPELLConceived and Originally Directed by John-Michael Tebelak Music and New Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz Originally Produced on the New York Stage by Edgar Lansbury/Stuart Duncan/Joseph Beruh Directed by Carol Jo FisherA troupe of players gather to help Jesus Christ tell the Gospel according to St. Matthew, turning a series of parables into an electric rock musical through a variety of games, pantomimes, musical styles, and a healthy dose of comedic timing. The captivating lyrics and music of Tony multi-award winner Stephen Schwartz's Godspell provides a lively retelling of Jesus' teachings along with his timeless and universal messages of love, tolerance, and joy. This production of Godspell will compare the outcries of the turbulent '70s to the societal struggles of the present, inviting the audience to contemplate the modern relevance of these well-known narratives.
