Afro-Cuban Batá Drumming and Rhythmic Concepts (LCW)
Location: LaBar Performance Hall - 2-12-2026 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm (America/New_York) (2 hours)

Students currently in the class “Many Musics: Introduction to Ethnomusicology” will be led by Adjunct Assistant Professor Nolan Warden and interactively teach rhythm, drumming, and songs for the Orishas. The Orishas, deities of the Yoruba people of Nigeria, are now venerated worldwide, especially in parts of the African diaspora such as Cuba, Brazil, and throughout the Americas. Sacred rhythms of the batá drums will accompany audience participation.  This is part of the World Music & Dance Fest  in O'Neill Hall of Music.  Originally published at cslc.nd.edu.
