Odes to Spring
Location: Leighton Concert Hall - 4-11-2026 12:00 am - 1:00 am (America/New_York) (1 hour)

While the reminders of this winter still linger, the University of Notre Dame Chorale shares an array of musical expressions and musings in the concert journey from winter to spring. The path taken includes music by German composers Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, and Richard Strauss. The program also includes delightful poetry by Sara Teasdale in tribute to the months of April, May, and June—and set masterfully for choir by Canadian composer Larry Nickel.Reminders of winter are expressed through Robert Frost's poignant poem "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" set to music by Eric Whitacre, and contrasted with the amusing setting of Thomas Morley's "Now Is the Month of Maying" with words "Now Is the Time of Winter" adapted by humorist Garrison Keillor. The concert is directed by Professor Stephen Zork and features graduate assistant conductors: Zach Flasch (DMA 1), Michael Olson (MSM 2), and undergraduate senior, Molly Mendenhall.Community members are warmly encouraged to support the University of Notre Dame Chorale in this concert of depth, beauty, and artistry. This concert is free but open to the public. Call 574-631-2800 or performingarts.nd.edu.
