A world-class emerging ensemble, ZaRiah is a collaboration of multifaceted artists guided by their various backgrounds and cultures. ZaRiah is the Grand Prize winner of the 2026 Fischoff National Chamber Music competition, an honor that a wind quintet has not won in nearly three decades.Known for their dynamic interaction and audience engagement, ZaRiah is the 2026 Artist-in-Residence with the Friends of Chamber Music Kansas City and First Prize Winner of the 2025 Frances Walton Chamber Music Competition. They have embarked on multiple tours across the U.S, and have featured performances on Classical KING-FM's Northwest Focus Live as well as NPR's Live Sessions. In 2025, ZaRiah was in residence at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, presenting numerous concerts featuring a diverse selection of repertoire. This past summer, ZaRiah was honored to be named a 2026 Shouse Institute Artist at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival.With three out of the five members being first-generation college students and three members being from the rural south, the group commits to increasing music accessibility in underserved communities.Part of the DeBartolo Performing Arts Presenting Series.  Single tickets will be available on August 17. Call 574-631-2800 or performingarts.nd.edu.

Three Tang Poems: Violinist Patrick Yim with Composers Chen Yi & Zhou Long at Notre Dame presents a concert of world premieres and contemporary music inspired by Chinese poetry, memories, and visual art. Featuring Zhou Long, Pulitzer Prize winner and Grammy nominee, and Chen Yi, Pulitzer finalist and Grammy nominee, the program includes the world premiere of Zhou's Three Tang Poems, a violin concerto written for Patrick Yim, and the premiere of Chen's My Childhood Memories, adapted for Yim. The concert follows the release of Yim's new album Bamboo Grove (Pentatone, 2026), featuring world-premiere recordings created in collaboration with the composers during their 2024 residency at Notre Dame. Rooted in Chinese folk, philosophical, and spiritual traditions while engaging contemporary Western musical language, the music of Chen Yi and Zhou Long embodies a distinctive transcultural aesthetic that reimagines the expressive possibilities of modern instruments and ensembles. Moving beyond older paradigms of exoticism and cultural otherness, the concert fosters creative dialogue, mutual exchange, and a shared artistic space where Chinese and Western traditions meet while maintaining their distinct voices.Presented by the  Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, and the Arts Initiative at the University of Notre Dame.
