For the first time in Eugene, we will have four concert grand pianos on stage for an evening full of exciting music for piano ensemble performed by students and faculty. Concluding the program, including the grand finale will feature 8 pianists on 4 pianos, for the world premiere of SOMD alumnus Steven James’ arrangement of the Ducks Fight song for 8 pianists, 16 hands. In the program, among works by Milhaud, Smetana, Bennett, Piazzolla, Lavignac, Rachmaninov and Guastavino. Another world premiere: Hay Fever, a work for 4 pianos composed by Steven James dedicated to and performed by the SOMD piano faculty: Brian Hsu, David Riley, Juan Avendaño, and Alex Dossin.
