Cormac Cannon, conductor
Director of Bands Cormac Cannon returns to the podium to lead the Wind Ensemble in their performance at the 48th annual USC Band Clinic. Various international influences come together in a program that will surely be remembered for years to come. Dennis Llinás’ La Chancla is a joyful and thrilling Cuban-inspired work, while Gao Hong’s Celebration brings traditional Chinese pipa music to the wind ensemble. The grand finale, David Maslanka’s epic masterwork Symphony No. 4, will inspire audiences with its dramatic, emotional journey, ending in a setting of the hymn tune “Old Hundred” for organ and wind ensemble.
Program:
Llinás, La Chancla
Hong, Celebration
Maslanka, Symphony No. 4
