Percussion ensembles from the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Utah State University, Utah Valley University, and Southern Utah University join forces for an evening celebrating the music of John Psathas—one of today’s most dynamic and globally recognized composers for percussion.

About John Psathas
Psathas first gained international acclaim as the composer of all original music for the Opening Ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, broadcast to billions worldwide. His works have since reached audiences in over 50 countries across all seven continents, and he is now regarded as one of the most significant living composers of the Greek Diaspora.

Known for his fearless cross-genre collaborations, Psathas has:
• Co-created a Billboard-topping classical album with System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian
• Written feature film scores and multimedia works
• Partnered with jazz greats Michael Brecker and Joshua Redman
• Collaborated on a digital art project with Salman Rushdie

Few composers navigate such a vast range of styles and cultures with equal mastery. Psathas’s music embodies a global artistic spirit—blending classical depth, rhythmic intensity, and cultural diversity into a singular voice that continues to inspire performers and audiences worldwide.
