Repertoire to be announcedAbout the Artists American trumpeter Jason Bergman is associate professor of music in trumpet at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He has performed throughout the United States, South America, Europe, and China. Bergman previously served as associate principal trumpet of the Santiago Philharmonic (Chile) and more recently as principal trumpet of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and Mobile Opera. He has also performed with the Utah Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Symphony, and the Dallas Winds. He has also been a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, performing weekly with the renowned Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City. Additionally, he has performed with the Canadian Brass, Rhythm & Brass, conductor David Robertson at Carnegie Hall, and Music Academy of the West. He has given recitals and master classes at numerous institutions worldwide and has performed and presented clinics at a host of music organization conferences. As a soloist, he has performed with the Royal Belgian Air Force Band, Garland Symphony Orchestra, Timpanogos Symphony, and the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music Wind Ensemble among many other groups. A committed educator, Bergman previously served on the faculties of Brigham Young University (BYU), University of North Texas, and University of Southern Mississippi (USM). He received the Class of '49 Young Scholar Award from BYU and the Nina Bell Suggs Endowed Professorship from USM. He currently serves as president of the International Trumpet Guild and is a regular adjudicator with the National Trumpet Competition. Committed to research, Bergman is a contributing author for the Grove Dictionary of American Music and served as editor of the Orchestra Section Profile in the International Trumpet Guild Journal. He has released three solo albums on MSR Classics, each featuring world premiere recordings. Bergman earned M.M. and D.M.A. degrees at the University of Michigan and a B.M. at BYU. He is a Yamaha Artist and exclusively plays Yamaha trumpets.Brittany Lasch is assistant professor of music in trombone at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She is also on faculty at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute and serves as principal trombone of the Detroit Opera Orchestra. She was previously assistant professor of trombone at Bowling Green State University. An S&R Foundation Washington Award winner, Lasch has appeared as a soloist with ensembles including the U.S. Army Band 'Pershing's Own,' Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, and symphonies around the country. With playing described as 'masterful' (Syracuse Post-Standard), American Record Guide recently hailed her as an 'excellent soloist.' Lasch has been a featured guest artist at numerous events, including the International Trombone Festival, International Women's Brass Conference, and American Trombone Workshop. She was a winner of Astral Artists National Auditions, the recipient of the Zulalian Foundation Award, and a prizewinner in numerous national and international competitions. She won second place in the 2018 American Prize Solo Instrumentalist Competition. She has performed with orchestras nationwide, including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Symphony, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, and The Florida Orchestra. She has also performed at multiple festivals, including the Verbier Festival and Spoleto USA. An advocate for new music, Lasch has commissioned and premiered several new pieces for the trombone by composers such as Reena Esmail, Adam Har-zvi, Inez McComas, and Thomas Weaver. She recorded the orchestrated version of Martin Kennedy's Theme and Variations for Trombone and Orchestra, which was recently released on the Albany Records label. Upcoming commission premieres include the works of Trey Anthony Flores, Brittany J. Green, and John H. Wallace. Lasch earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, Master of Music degree from Yale School of Music, and Bachelor of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music.Denise Tryon joined the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as associate professor of music in horn in 2023. She previously served as professor of horn at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She joined the famed American Horn Quartet as fourth horn in 2019. She was previously fourth horn of the Philadelphia Orchestra and held positions with the Detroit, Baltimore, Columbus, and New World Symphonies. She also served as horn professor at the Peabody Institute from 2007 to 2019. Tryon attended the Interlochen Arts Academy and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC). She received the Presidential Scholarship while in the Artist Diploma Program at NEC with the Taiyo Wind Quintet, which won the Coleman Chamber Competition. An active and accomplished educator, Tryon has taught master classes extensively in the United States, Scandinavia, Europe, Asia, and South America. She has been a featured artist at many International Horn Society Symposiums and Regional Workshops and has been a featured artist at the Nordic Hornfest, Blekinge International Brass Academy, Warsaw Horn Workshops, CORNO Brass Music Workshop, and Domaine Forget. Since 2017, she's been a faculty member at Rafael Mendez Brass Institute in Denver. She is frequently on faculty with Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra. A champion of new music, Tryon commissioned four new pieces for low horn and piano for her 2015 album SO-LOW. The American Prize awarded her with a special judges' citation for Important Commitment to the Music of Our Time. She commissioned six pieces for low horn for her 2020 album Hope Springs Eternal, for which she won the 2022 American Prize in Instrumental Performance. Her 2017 horn duo album A Pair of Aces, featuring Tryon and Karl Pituch, won a silver medal from the Global Music Awards. In 2009, she and Pituch founded the annual horn seminar Audition Mode, which focuses on the skills horn players need to be successful in orchestral auditions.
