HHSOM alumni Brian and Natalie Smith perform "Alone Together" by Arthur Schwartz on guitar and flute. Natalie studied with Angela Jones-Reus and holds a BMus degree in Music Theory from 2003, and a MM in Flute Performance from 2005. Brian Smith graduated in 2001 with a BMus degree in Guitar Performance and studied with John Sutherland. Brian and Natalie Smith perform regularly as The Musicsmiths for concerts, weddings and other special events including UGA events like Cook's Holiday. Natalie is principal flute in the Gwinnett Ballet Theater Orchestra, the Georgia Ballet Orchestra, the GAMAC Chamber Orchestra in Anderson, SC, and regularly subs with the Anderson Symphony. She also teaches music to children through her business Music with Natalie. Brian is a founding member and still performs with the Georgia Guitar Quartet. He is active in the musical theater scene, playing regularly with the Aurora Theater, Gainesville Theater Alliance and most recently the Alliance Theater. Brian and Natalie both teach privately and in 2019 started the nonprofit HEART Music, an organization dedicated to making high quality music education available to all students.
