Repertoire will be announced from the stage.About the Artists A versatile trumpeter based in New Orleans, Ashlin Parker is sought after for soloing, section work, and community building. He has played with ensembles at music festivals, clubs, and concert halls in Australia, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, the Caribbean, North and South America, and across Europe. Parker leads the Trumpet Mafia, tours regularly with Dumpstaphunk and The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and has upcoming tours in 2025: 'Louis' with Wynton Marsalis and Cecile Lacad and 'Might Not Make It Home' with Dumpstaphunk and Trombone Shorty. He has played with a host of notable musicians, including Ellis Marsalis, Ivan Neville, Jon Batiste, Dave Matthews, and Dr. John, among many others. Parker has played on more than 30 albums with other musicians; he is featured on albums with Jason Marsalis, Ellis Marsalis, Tiffany Austin, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, U2, Elton John, and Trombone Shorty, among other luminaries. He is the producer of Trumpet Mafia Plays the Music of Ellis Marsalis (forthcoming 2025). Parker has taught private lessons and led master classes at many high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the United States, Switzerland, and Australia. He has served as a teacher in such jazz camps as the National Jazz Workshop, JazzArts Charlotte Summer Music Camp, Nash Summer Camp, and he leads the Jazz Cat summer camp in Ascona, Switzerland. He serves as professor of practice at Tulane University. Honors include sharing in the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble for the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra's Book One. Trumpet Mafia won OffBeat Magazine's 2017 Best of the Beat Award: Emerging Artist of the Year. Parker won the French Quarter Fest Inc. 2018 Spirit of Satchmo Award. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Shenandoah University Conservatory and the Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans. Grammy-nominated trumpeter John Raymond is associate professor of music in jazz studies at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Raymond is one of the most promising, genre-bending musicians jazz today. He is 'steering jazz in the right direction' (DownBeat) by pushing its boundaries, seamlessly incorporating indie-rock, folk, and electronic influences into his music. As Something Else stated, 'This is jazz, yes, but jazz with an open mind.' Raymond has released nine albums under his own name, each garnering critical acclaim from the New York Times, NPR, DownBeat, Stereogum, and more. His most recent recording, Shadowlands, is a collaboration with singer/songwriter S. Carey (of Bon Iver) that blurs the lines between indie folk, forward-thinking jazz, lush pop, and atmospheric electronic music. He has also released four albums with his trio Real Feels, which features Raymond's original compositions as well as fresh takes on familiar songs by such artists as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Thom Yorke, among others. Raymond has been a sideman or featured artist on over 30 other recordings, including four Grammy-nominated albums. He has performed with such jazz luminaries as Billy Hart, Orrin Evans, and Gilad Hekselman, and has recorded with artists including Sara Bareilles, Darnell Davis, and Sandra McCracken. Raymond has also established himself as a sought-after guest soloist and educator at high schools and universities around the world. His book The Jazz Trumpet Routine explores an approach to fundamentals through the lens of a creative improviser and has sold over 900 copies since its release in 2020. He is also the creator and host of the podcast The Trumpet Summit, where he talks shop with other master jazz trumpeters, including Tom Harrell, Sean Jones, Ingrid Jensen, the Snarky Puppy Horns, and more. Raymond has presented at the Jazz Education Network national conference and has published articles in JAZZed, DownBeat, and the International Trumpet Guild journal. He is active on YouTube and social media, sharing jazz trumpet and improvisation content to students around the world.
